The Tipperary native played Jane Black for nine years before she quit the RTE One soap

Reacting to Ryan’s departure from RTE after Director General Kevin Bakhurst announced negotiations had broken down between the pair, Rachel said she thought it was a “huge loss for RTE”.She said: “Very disappointing news. Huge loss for RTE IMO Rachel went on to hit out on the “online cruelty” towards the star.

She said: “The online cruelty and blatant lack of human decency, empathy and understanding has been shocking. She later clarified that although Tubridy wasn’t cancelled, she wanted to highlight how harmful online abuse can be on someone’s career. She said: “I agree that he wasn’t cancelled in this instance. I’m really just highlighting how harmful online emotional abuse, vilification and widespread shaming has on a person’s life and career, all of which can be part of the greater cancel culture.”She said: "After nine years, I've decided to leave McCoy's and my role as Jane Black on Fair City.

"Thank you to all my beautiful, hardworking fellow cast members and the wonderful crew in RTE who treated me with the greatest respect, love and kindness - always making me feel like such a valued member of the team."She said: "Time now to embrace new challenges and return to my first love, film."
