Spain's High Court in Madrid found him guilty of sexual assault
Former Spanish football chief Luis Rubiales has been found guilty of kissing Jenni Hermoso without her consent after the Women's World Cup final in 2023.
He told the court that he was "absolutely sure" Hermoso, 34, had given her consent - something she denied. Rubiales described it as an "act of affection", saying it was "something completely spontaneous". Prosecutors had been seeking a prison sentence for the disgraced executive, who has instead escaped with a fine in the high-profile case.
"I didn't hear or understand anything," Hermoso told the court. "The next thing he did was to grab me by the ears and kiss me on the mouth. I knew I was being kissed by my boss and that should not happen in any social or work environment. Judge Jose Manuel Fernandez-Prieto labelled it a "reprehensible act" and insisted it was not his usual way of greeting players.
