The national forecaster has pinpointed three or four counties, which are set to enjoy temperatures at the top of the range

As Ireland basks in a mini-heatwave bringing scorching temperatures in the 20s, Met Éireann has pinpointed which counties will be the hottest over the coming days.

The national forecaster has revealed that the best of the sunshine will be in the east and the south, with Wexford and Waterford both taking the ticket and topping off at 22C this Thursday; while Dublin, Mayo, Clare and Galway will be between 18C and 19C. For this Friday's forecast, a Met Éireann spokesperson said: "Another dry day tomorrow with a mix of cloud and sunny spells. Rather cloudy to start with better sunshine later in the day. Highest temperatures of 17 to 21 or 22 degrees with a light northeasterly breeze."

While temperatures will cool off a little on Sunday, the two-week mini-heatwave is set to pick back up on Monday, with temperatures back up from 19C on the previous day, to 21C.
