Today's weather sees mostly light showers in some pockets, mainly in north-eastern areas.
The Met Office's long-range weather forecast stated that from Thursday onwards “showers, possibly wintry, are expected for the north and east at times, especially for coastal areas.” A cold spell in the second week of March is expected due to a phenomenon called Sudden Stratospheric Warming, which began in mid February.
