Leeds has been enjoying a heatwave this week but it is not set to last for long
Thunderstorms are set to hit Leeds today after the city enjoyed days of sunshine and rising temperatures.
Forecasters warn that flooding of homes and businesses could happen quickly, with damage to some buildings from floodwater, lightning strikes, hail or strong winds.They said: "Where flooding or lightning strikes occur, there is a chance of delays and some cancellations to train and bus services. For its Sunday forecast, the Met Office said: "Another warm start, with mist soon dispersing to sunny spells. Becoming cloudier during the morning however, with initially sporadic showers giving way to a risk of widespread organised storms, especially in western parts, with gusty torrential downpours and hail possible. Maximum temperature 26 °C.
