Schools and colleges in all corners of the country have reported delays with BTEC results, as students who were hoping for a place through Clearing fear they may already have missed out
Pearson has apologised for the delays and says any university places offered should be held until 7 September under Ucas guidelines. But Toby Perkins, Labour’s shadow minister for FE and Skills, said if the problem is as wide-scale as feared, the Government and Pearson need to take further action.“Where is the public interest in them not telling us what the scale of the problem is? We shouldn’t have to be totting it up from those who’ve tweeted about it.
David Hughes, chief executive of the Association of Colleges, has also called on Pearson to front up on the scale of the delays and for a full investigation. “That’s something and they are working all weekend to sort this, but still stressful for every single student waiting & their families.”his 18-year-old daughter Caitlyn is still waiting for her Level 3 BTEC results in Animal Management from Tameside College in Greater Manchester.“She’s doing OK it’s just very frustrating.
A Pearson spokesperson said: “We are very sorry that some students are still waiting for their results. BTECs are a modular qualification and in order for us to award an overall grade, we require grades to be provided for each unit and a claim made to receive the qualification.
