READ MORE: Gardai searches begin and man arrested in investigation into disappearance of Jo Jo DullardSources say the man arrested on Monday, aged in his 50s, was a person of interest in the case since investigations were first launched following Ms Dullard’s disappearance in 1995. The suspect was arrested and detained on Monday at a Garda station in Co Kildare under the provisions of Section 4, Criminal Justice Act 1984. He can be questioned for up to 24 hours.
He told the Irish Mirror: “It’s a huge regret of mine leaving it unfinished. I’m delighted to hear the news, it’s very positive news. Hopefully, it brings some closure to the family. For not to know for so, so long, it’s 29 years now. The night Ms Dullard went missing, she had been socialising in Bruxelles bar and later missed her last bus home to Kilkenny. She instead boarded a 10pm bus to Naas, Co Kildare. Ms Dullard had intended to hitchhike the rest of the way home to Callan, Co Kilkenny.
