Eventually there will be 800 homes on the site

A new primary school is set to be built on a new housing development near Sherwood Forest. Plans have been submitted for a 210-pupil school within the Thorseby Vale development in Edwinstowe, on the former Thorseby Colliery site.

Company director Nic Flatt, 31, also thinks the primary school is "a brilliant idea." Nic has lived on the for more than a year after he and his partner stumbled across it by accident. Solicitor Ashley Gilbert, 27, is also looking forward to seeing the estate develop. He said: "there will be a new primary school across the road and the building that's over there is going to have shops in, so that will be good."

"The people that are coming to the area are really friendly, we have really good neighbours that we see a lot." Shelley thinks the new school is a good idea that will benefit other families in the area, but she doesn't plan on using it as her children are already settled at their current school. In addition to the proposed projects for the future, residents on the estate are really pleased with the friendly community and close proximity to nature. New mum, Neethu Thomas, 28, has lived on the estate for almost a year and loves "how beautiful it is."
