"We did these kind of war rooms that were sort of rehearsals, sort of working on the script. But they would take all day, and in it was all of the main collaborators on the show. So everyone got to have their say," the filmmaker explained. It turns out that the accent for"Steven", the British personality Marc Spector has developed as part of his dissociative identity disorder, actually came out fully formed during the development process."The first time that Oscar was not even playing Steven – because we weren't just reading all the lines. He was talking about Steven. And that's when he first dropped into the accent, and it was absolutely beautiful. And that was when it clicked for us that he was all in.
"Even on the camera tests, I remember, we were trying different wardrobes for different characters. As early as the camera tests – we hadn't even started shooting yet – he was holding his face and his posture differently, so that it didn't matter how he was dressed. You could know what character he was playing."And that was so incredible. I've never seen anything like that in my life. He didn't have to be speaking for you to know what character he was playing.
