Qualifying for the Brazilian Grand Prix was ended earlier than expected as a storm swept across Sao Paulo and brought with it strong winds and incredibly heavy rain
Several Formula 1 fans suffered minor injuries as a heavy storm suddenly battered the circuit during Brazilian Grand Prix qualifying, Mirror Sport understands.
Dramatic footage was shared on social media showing the wind ripping the roof off one grandstand. And a photographer shared an image of another which had collapsed, claiming he "nearly got decapitated by falling debris". Storms are set to continue to batter the area until the early hours of the morning. Damage to the grandstands will be assessed by the race promoter in the morning before a decision is made as to whether it is safe for them to continue to be used.
