It's Christmas Eve in Carrigstown and Carol has no regrets about her night with J.J. - but turns down his attempts to see her again. James complains about his harsh work conditions, but Tommy urges Emma not to give in. Carol delights in seeing James suffer. Sharon fishes for info on Carol’s night of romance, to no avail. James is furious when Sharon reveals that Hayley has blocked his number. J.J tracks Carol down, but inadvertently insults her.
He is left confused when Carol turns cold on him. A desperate James grabs Sharon’s phone when he overhears her speaking with Hayley - will he get to speak to her? Emma pleads with James to make an effort for Christmas, but he is on full self-destruct mode. Dolores reveals she’s leaving town for a few days so as not to ruin Carol’s Christmas. Orla sets J.J straight on Carol’s true identity. Who is he exactly? Elsewhere in Carrigstown, Dean worries that Mairead’s antagonising of Tyler will set him off. Renee and Bosco are furious with Tyler for letting the local kids down. Mairead, trying to keep up appearances, reluctantly defends Tyler to Bosco and Renee. Dean and Mairead team up to save the kids’ day by organising karaoke for them. A humiliated Tyler admits to Hughie that he lives off his family’s money but has been cut off. Hughie gives Tyler notice to vacate The Pod. Dean and Mairead are heartened to hear of Tyler’s financial problems, hoping he’ll soon leave town. Plus, Jess gets Greg onside regarding her new job opportunity with Joan. Ruby ribs Jess over her eagerness to impress Joan. Jess’s plans for a Christmas night out are foiled when Joan asks her to find a turkey last minute
