"I don't think so," she told RSVP Live. "I think it's hugely popular all over the country. It's been running since 1989 and it's still popular.
"The actors are great in it, and you see young actors developing and starting off and so on. I don't see any reason why , because people do love it.
" When Glenroe kicked off back in 1983, Geraldine never expected it to become the phenomenon that it did. "The initial contract was a two year contract," she said. "They thought it was a two year series and then, by the end of the first year, it was very popular. By the second year, it was so hugely popular that they carried it on.
It was a very pleasant surprise.
" Viewers haven't seen Rose O'Brien on screen in a number of years, but she has been brought back for a limited time only as Carol Foley is hoping to get some answers from her. When we last saw her, she was suffering with Alzheimer's and now it has worsened.
"It was lovely because it was nine years since I was in it before," said Geraldine. "In the meantime, a lot of things happened to me. My husband died, which was one of the reasons that I asked to be written out. And then of course, Covid came and then storylines, of course, changed.
"Then this storyline cropped up about Carol's mother and my character is now in a nursing home and Carol is trying to jog her memory because she was a neighbour of Carol's mother when they were growing up. "It was lovely to come back and it was no problem redoing the character. It was lovely working with all the actors that I worked with before and seeing everybody again. That was very pleasant and I think it went quite well. "
