My Best: The actor, who plays Carrigstown's Georgie Dennis, reveals his favourite holiday over the years, the best book he has read, and why he is not into comedy
There’s no denying that Shaun Dunne’s Georgie has made his mark on Carrigstown. The character has been caught up in plenty of drama over the course of the last few months, with his recent friendship with Fergal Boyle having a wide-reaching impact on his life and relationships with the other residents of Carrigstown.
And as the show — which airs on Sunday and Tuesday nights at 8pm, Thursday at 8.30pm and Friday at 7.30pm on RTÉ One — continues, Chic caught up with Shaun to find some of his favourite things in the world… Read more: Fair City's Shaun Dunne on playing a gay character, Laura Halpin's murder and future on the show Read more: Fair City's Craig Connolly on girlfriend, life on the West End and praising Cillian Murphy I have really great memories of my teenage years when I was in Independent Youth Theatre. I had a good gang around me and really strong friendships.I work a lot with three great actors who are based in Dublin. Lauren Larkin, Jade Jordan and Eva Jane Gaffney. They share the top podium for me.I go to a lot of gigs so it’s really hard to pick one. I love festivals as well if I’m not camping; Primavera in Barcelona would be a highlight.Survive It by Ghost Poet. And I love The Return by Gemma Dunleavy. Ghost Poet is a favourite artist of mine — I came across him when I first moved to London so his earlier stuff really reminds me of then.Eclipse by John Banville. It’s one of his lesser known pieces I feel but it’s really, really beautiful. It’s part of a trilogy that follows one character over a number of years. It is a very poetic family story. This is impossible. Manchester by the Sea and Aftersun are two special films I’d return to. Anything by Sean Baker, too. Florida Project especially.I eat out a lot — a regular spot I go to is Sfuso in the Italian quarter tree. Simple, Italian deli style but great wine and the staff are amazing. My friend from university, Patrick and my friend from school, Grace. I also have two sisters who I’m really close to. I’ve a lot of friends thank god! On Fair City I’m really close with Emily who plays Gwen. We’re soulmates!Barry who plays Ronan on Fair City and I recently had this discussion. I’m strangely not into comedy! Fair City airs four nights a week on RTE One and RTE Player. Have you been following any of the storylines recently?
