Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Calvin Ridley announced Sunday he needs to step away from football to focus on his mental health.
He made the announcement over Twitter after he was ruled inactive for Sunday's 19-13 loss against the Carolina Panthers due to a personal matter. It marked the second missed game this season for Ridley.
"I want to thank my teammates, the entire Atlanta Falcons organization, our great fans, my friends, and my family for all of their support during this time." Ridley, 26, caught his second touchdown pass of the season in that game. He has 31 catches for 281 yards in five games for the Falcons so far this season.
