Lauren Jones and her family had just checked into their hotel when the 6.8 magnitude earthquake struck
A holidaymaker has described the 'petrifying' moment she and her family were caught up in the Moroccan earthquake just hours after landing.
Lauren, 35, and her family flew from Manchester Airport and landed at around 9:30pm - with the earthquake hitting just after 11pm. They had just checked in and were going to a restaurant when they felt the ground shaking causing them to panic.Speaking to the MEN she said: "I can only describe it as it was like walking on a water bed. The floor was wobbling. My daughter gripped me and her nan and she was crying, petrified.
Lauren claims there was little communication from TUI last night - but managed to speak to a rep on Saturday. State television showed people clustered in the streets of Marrakesh, afraid to go back inside buildings that might still be unstable. Many wrapped themselves in blankets as they tried to sleep outside.
"To reassure, our teams are currently working on the ground in resort and supporting customers where needed and in contact with local authorities and partners to continue to assess the situation. Please follow instructions by your hoteliers and local authorities.
