More than 10 are believed to have been removed in St Anne's
A sister has spoken of the "complete shock" she felt when she discovered someone had stole her late brother's memorial plaque from a bench on St Anne Promenade.
James, who was from Salford, died in June 2018, aged 32, leaving his family understandably devastated. And now they have had to endure another cruel blow, with her boys Jacob and James especially upset and asking "mummy, where has it gone?"The family made a lovely tradition of buying an ice cream at the nearby stand at the Fylde resort's famous pier and then sitting on James' tribute bench looking out to sea as they ate them.
But Rachel, 39, then noticed "10 or 15" other bench plaques appeared to have gone missing. The council eventually responded again, confirming they were "very sorry" that the plaque had indeed been taken. "They say whoever did it should go to prison. James was my best mate and we were really close in age. It is upsetting and I was just dead shocked.Rachel says the council have told her the police have been informed about the alleged thefts. She is unsure exactly when the plaque was taken.
