The family of murdered Donegal backpacker Danielle McLaughlin’s grief is still raw on the seventh anniversary of her horror killing as they continue to fight for justice.
“The amount of setbacks we have seen and everything we have heard since her death has been so traumatising and overwhelming yet we are not allowed to let it get to us to ensure we can still fight for Danielle. All we want now this nightmare to end.” “She was like a second mother to ‘her girls’ and usually she would always have at least one beside her when she was in Ireland.
“Danielle never felt old and when she realised she was nearly 30 she was so emotional at the thought of becoming ‘old’. She never even got to turn 30. She will be forever young now. “I miss my sidekick, the one person I could talk to and I miss hearing all her adventures. She has missed out on so much. Every day was a struggle in the first few years. And all the happy occasions they came had a dark cloud over them because she wasn’t there.
