Designer Robin Kerr started the brand after graduating from Nottingham Trent University
Anyone with memories of the late 80s and early 90s in Nottingham will recall G Force clothing, especially the door of their shop on Goose Gate. with a BA in fashion design.
The brand had its first studio in Bottle Lane in 1979 before moving to Goose Gate later on. It gradually expanded during the late 80s with stores opening in Paris and Brussels before moving into Japan. Robin began advertising through different magazines, including ID Japan. As well as a cult following of local fashion-forward customers, G Force began to find itself in demand across the world.
The first G Force store was opened on a shoestring budget but the team made the best of the situation by being creative with what they had. Robin said: "Initially when we opened the store, we had zero money so we just painted the window out with white paint so you couldn't see through it. He added: "We left it as it was then he designed the gates that went on the front of the shop. They were made from all the recycled metal he could get his hands on. When it was first done, it was covered in copper so the front was very shiny."
