Fans of the Olympic Games have learned an amazing fact about this year Olympic medals - and it really is quite historic.
News company Reuters confirmed the claim in February of this year, taking to Twitter to share: "Medalists at the upcoming Paris Olympics will be rewarded with a piece The pieces of the Eiffel Tower which are contained within the medals are pieces that were taken out in the 1900's as part of a renovation of the iconic monument.
"I will give Paris credit: the idea of medalists getting to leave there with a sliver of the Eiffel Tower in their medal is beyond genius!" one user said.
