One man has died and two other people have been injured in the collision which happened northbound between Junctions 12 and 14 at Mooremont around 2am this morning.
A section of the M1 motorway in Louth has been closed after a fatal crash involving a tractor and a car.
Emergency services were called and a passenger in the car, a man aged in his 30s, was pronounced dead at the scene. Two other people in the car, men aged in their 20s and 60s, were taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital to be treated for injuries which are believed to be non-life threatening.Gardai say no other injuries have been reported.
The M1 northbound lanes before Junction 13 are closed, with local diversions in place, while a technical examination by forensic collision investigators takes place. M1 Southbound lanes remain open.A Garda spokesman said: “Gardaí and emergency services attended the scene of a fatal road traffic collision on the M1 Northbound between Junctions 12 & 14 at Mooremont, Co. Louth this morning, Saturday, 14th October 2023.
