Four of six individuals arrested in connection with the fatal stabbing of Willie Moorehouse, a 36-year-old father of six, have been released without charge. Gardaí (Irish police) are treating the case as a murder investigation and are appealing for information from the public.
A father of six, Willie Moorehouse, 36, is believed to have been attacked by an armed group while attending a pre-arranged fight in Bray , Co. Wicklow, Ireland . Four of the six individuals arrested in connection with the fatal attack have been released without charge. Gardaí (Irish police) received preliminary postmortem results and are now treating the case as a murder investigation.
A senior investigating officer (SIO) is leading the inquiry from Bray Garda Station, with a family liaison officer (FLO) providing support to Mr. Moorehouse's family. Two men in their 20s and 40s, arrested on Monday in Bray, were released on Wednesday morning. Four others were detained on Tuesday following a search of seven properties at a halting site in Bray. A juvenile, two men in their 20s, and one in his 30s were questioned. One of the men in his 20s and the man in his 30s were released without charge on Wednesday, while a file is being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions regarding the remaining suspects. Mr. Moorehouse is believed to have gone to the Ballywaltrim area of Bray on Sunday evening for the pre-arranged fight, which Gardaí suspect was organized to settle a drug-related dispute. However, during the altercation, Mr. Moorehouse was fatally stabbed by men armed with weapons. Investigators have recovered knives near the scene and hope forensic testing will link them to the suspects.
