The Tanaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Leo Varadkar, is expected to hold talks with the IDA today as fears mount for yet more Irish tech jobs.
Facebook's parent company - Meta - is expected to announce plans this week to cut thousands of jobs, including from its Irish workforce of over 3,000. The Wall Street Journal reports this could be the largest number of lay-offs announced by a tech firm this year. An announcement could come as early as Wednesday.
It comes hot on the heels of Twitter cutting half of its Irish workforce, and the payments firm Stripe confirming it's to let 14% of its staff go.The IDA and Enterprise Ireland have been invited to appear before the Oireachtas Enterprise Committee on Wednesday, to discuss the job cuts.
