Fine Gael TD Richard Bruton is expected to announce on Tuesday evening that he will not contest the next election
Fine Gael politicians have expressed concerns that another four to five TDs could announce they will not contest the next election following news that Richard Bruton will retire.
He served as Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation and Minister of Education and Skills, as well as deputy leader of the party between 2002 and 2010. There are fears among those in the party that Mr Bruton will not be the final TD to announce his departure ahead of the next election.
