Following his massacre of wife Clodagh and sons Liam, Niall and Ryan in August 2016, concerned gardai launched an investigation at the Co Cavan primary.
As detectives worked to gather evidence, Hawe’s victims’ loved ones say they were left to flounder. Clodagh’s sister Jacqueline and mother Mary Coll claim they struggled to get any details from gardai about what had happened and were left instead to rely on information given to the media. Jacqueline said: “There was no initial support. I remember on the Monday myself and Mam trying to contact people and there was nobody there.
