A Louth Fine Gael TD has said he is"shocked and angered" after a candidate for the party in June's local elections pulled out following allegations regarding her withdrawal of a planning objection.
It is alleged the developer agreed to pay Marian Agrios €15,000 in cash and carry out €15,000 worth of work on her home in exchange for the withdrawal of her objection to the Termonfeckin development.Mr O’Dowd said he was"absolutely shocked and angered by these revelations"."To withdraw her name is 100% the right and the only decision. I'm utterly disgusted by what I have heard," Mr O’Dowd said.
Earlier, Ms Agrios said she was pulling out of the election and apologised following the publication of a report which made allegations regarding her withdrawal of a planning objection.Ms Agrios added:"While my name remains on the ballot paper, I now ask that voters, do not consider me for election."
Meanwhile, Labour TD Duncan Smith has called for an urgent debate in the Dáil on ethics after the allegations against Ms Agrios emerged.
