I’ve always wanted to see if there was another layer of people in Saskatoon that were doing really great things to help the community but maybe they weren’t talking about their work on Twitter or Facebook or Instagram.
They’re doing it because they’re passionate about their job, they’re passionate about making a difference and they genuinely love helping people. So they’re flying under the radar, they’re underground. That’s kind of where the name came from — they’re just below the surface.Article content In 2018, there was nothing like this and I thought I’d like to be the first person to do a podcast like this in Saskatoon.I’m so grateful to be going into season five because people are listening, and I think it’s highlighting some really important community work that’s happening in Saskatoon. I really love sharing those stories.
It’s interesting to learn about these organizations, the people that make them so important and do all the hard work, and then to celebrate the work that they do. When I get feedback, that makes me feel like people are really listening and it’s hitting home for them.Advertisement 4I learned so much in terms of how to tell a good audio story from my time at CBC. I was really fortunate to work with some incredible journalists who love audio.
It also prepared me on the technical side of things; I edit my own podcasts. I really love editing. I think there’s an art form to it.
