The fight of the night ended in a similarly narrow ruling, this one in favor of the unbeaten Chimaev, who continued his meteoric rise up the welterweight ranks by surviving an all-out 15-minute battle against second-ranked contender Burns. Those cheers started with the opening fight, when Julio Arce employed patience, defensive footwork and the jab to defeat Brazilian newcomer Daniel Santos by unanimous decision and continued through Californian Jared Vanderaa's heavyweight battle against Russian veteran Aleksei Oleinik.
