Footage has emerged showing the balloon, which has been tracked flying across the country since Wednesday , falling to the sea near South Carolina after a small explosion.During the operation, three airports were shut and airspace was closed off the coast of North and South Carolina. It comes after earlier today US leader Joe Biden said the country is “going to take care of” the balloon, which China claimed was being used for meteorological research and had strayed into US airspace.said: “We successfully took it down, and I want to compliment our aviators who did it.”
Mr Biden added he told the Pentagon on Wednesday to shoot down the Chinese spy balloon as soon as possible. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin, who first announced the shootdown, said the balloon was being used by China “in an attempt to survey strategic sites in the continental United States”.
