It is the first change in 5 years
Several warnings have been issued to UK passport holders after news of changes were announced by the Home Office. Now, there is just one day to go before the price of applying for a British passport increases.
It is the first time in five years the cost of applying for a passport has increased, according to the Home Office. The Government's webpage, announcing the proposals, said: "The new fees will help the Home Office move towards a system that meets its costs through those who use it, reducing reliance on funding from general taxation.
"The increase will also help enable the Government to continue improving its services." The proposed increases would be the first in five years, the Home Office said, adding they will be subjected to parliamentary scrutiny.
