Fire extensively damages house being renovated in Chula Vista [Breaking]
A fire at a Chula Vista home undergoing construction work caused extensive damage and investigators are trying to determine what sparked it, fire officials said.Video shot by OnScene TV showed flames shooting through the roof of the one-story home and a construction dumpster out in front of the building as fire crews worked to put water on the blaze.
It took firefighters around 30 minutes to knock down the fire. Around 32 firefighters assisted, said Chula Vista fire Capt. Josh Sanders.San Diego Gas & Electric workers also were notified to help secure utilities at the scene, Sanders said. Chula Vista fire prevention staff are investigating the cause and origin of the fire.A damage estimate wasn’t available.
“This was an unoccupied home, currently under construction, and thankfully the fire was contained to that property only,” Sanders said in an email.
