GEORGE TOWN: You can expect sparks to fly when top DAP leaders converge in Penang for two days next week.

A senior state party leader says some of the DAP ministers will face some tough questions on their performance in the Pakatan Harapan government thus far, as well as in the recent Rantau by-election.

“Penang is DAP’s powerbase and members here are no pushover as they have worked hard to put the Penang government in power for three terms. There will be some local issues among the agenda, too,” a party insider said. Another senior party leader, who declined to be named, said members would also want to know the strategy for the Sandakan by-election after Pakatan suffered a string of losses.

State DAP secretary Senator Lim Hui Ying said the party leaders would be here although the Sandakan by-election campaign is looming.“It’s an opportunity for DAP ministers and leaders to explain national issues and also for members to give their views.”“Well, it’s a closed-door affair as we want members to be free to question our leaders without fear or favour.
