'Two lives taken totally unnecessary.'
Peter and Margaret Deeley A couple who died in a car crash in Barnsley, South Yorkshire, have been named by police as Peter and Margaret Deeley. A white Suzuki is believed to have been struck by a grey Range Rover at the Barugh Green crossroad junction at 2pm yesterday. Peter, 75 and Margaret, 85, died at the scene. A man, 65, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and remains released on police bail.
‘Very scary to think that had she been a few minutes earlier it could have been her! Thoughts are with the families of those involved.’ Sally Taylor said: ‘Devastating for the family. Two lives taken totally unnecessary.’ Val Mills added: ‘RIP – an absolutely tragic and horrific accident. It should never have happened.’ Police said officers are keen to hear from witnesses or have a dashcam of the vehicles involved.
