A fisherman has died after he fell from a boat at King John’s Pier in Carlingford, Co Louth, on Monday morning.
He has been named locally as Gearóid McMahon from Blackrock, Co Louth, who was formerly from Limerick city. It is understood that he fell from a fishing boat in the harbour. The local coast guard and gardaí attended the scene when the alarm was raised around 8.30am. Mr McMahon’s death occurred close to the location where healthcare worker Ruth Maguire drowned in 2019. She had travelled to the village for a hen party when it is believed she fell off the pier on the night of March 16th.push alertsLate Late Toy Show draws 1.
