A fisherman has died after he fell from a boat at King John’s Pier in Carlingford, Co Louth, on Monday morning.

He has been named locally as Gearóid McMahon from Blackrock, Co Louth, who was formerly from Limerick city. It is understood that he fell from a fishing boat in the harbour. The local coast guard and gardaí attended the scene when the alarm was raised around 8.30am.
