“Growing up, there wasn’t really a hair salon for black people in Ireland,” she says, “and I felt that we needed somewhere where we could go to get our hair done, and also have it be a professional setting.” The 26-year-old whose work was included in The National Photographic Archive by Photo Museum Ireland in 2022 says that it wasn’t all smooth-sailing for her as some of the challenges she faced as a freelance photographer were around her race.In the past, I’ve been hired to create projects that promote diversity. But the same people that hire me for diversity would not reach out for anything else.
The events & public relations student whose dance classes are frequented by White Irish, Africans and Brazilians says it is important to give people a cultural understanding of certain dances too.
