A police operation is under way after reports at least five migrants have died during an attempt to cross the Channel
Migrants travel in an inflatable boat across the English Channel, bound for Dover At least five migrants are reported to have died off the coast of France just hours after the government’s Rwanda bill passed.It is reported that the French coast guard said there was a failed attempt to cross the Channel and police were at a beach in Wimereux, about 20 miles south of Calais, after the incident.French newspaperAccording to the newspaper, a four-year-old girl was among the survivors on the beach.
Footage and photos taken this morning showed small boats attempting the perilous crossing to Kent through the busy shipping route. It comes as Rishi Sunak said “nothing will stand in our way” of getting flights off the ground after the Government’s Rwanda deportation plan passed through Parliament.
