Some tips for the summer from PDSA_HQ

Pic: PDSA warns pet owners across the UK about the dangers of soaring temperatures

Dogs owners need to be prepared for the warm weather, according to PDSA Vet Nurse Nina Downing. She explains that dogs can be at risk of dangerous, which can be serious and in some cases, fatal. Fortunately for all pet owners out there, there are plenty of things to do to keep our pets cool and out of harm’s way.Nina says that one of the biggest heatstroke triggers is exercise in hot weather. In 2020, 74% of heat-related illness in dogs was caused by exercise in hot weather.Nina added:"Though your dog might typically enjoy long walks and frolicking around the garden, it’s best to stay indoors for the hottest part of the day.

Nina explained:"Even humans find it unbearable sitting in a conservatory for too long on a hot day. When you’re at home with your pooch, keep windows and doors open on the shaded side of the house where it’s safe to do so as this will allow plenty of fresh air to filter into the room.
