The flu 'is still to hit its peak', with 700 patients already in hospital, HSE COO Damien McCallion has said.
"What we're experiencing at the moment are particularly high levels of respiratory illness in terms of COVID, flu and RSV," he said.
"These are things like using the private hospitals, additional sessions being run by GPs, and also then in terms of prioritising the urgent and emergency work," he said."We have to work through these couple of weeks. "Lastly if someone has an emergency requirement, they should of course go to an Emergency Department or call an ambulance," he explained."It's not too late for people still to be vaccinated," he said.
