Flu warning for Mater Hospital in Dublin as visitors told to come 'only when absolutely necessary'
Visitors to one of Dublin’s busiest hospitals have been warned to only visit when absolutely necessary.
And a staggering 620 patients were waiting for beds across the country today, according to the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation . University Hospital Limerick was close behind with 57 while University Hospital Galway and Mayo University Hospital both had 35 patients waiting.“Our members on the frontline are describing the situation as ‘horrendous’ for both staff and patients.
“After much lobbying, we got the HSE to approve recruitment for the posts on December 20th - far too late to make a difference this winter.”
