Over 50 acts will play in Allston at Boston Calling over Memorial Day weekend, including Queens of the Stone Age, The Flaming Lips, Yeah Yeah Yeahs and Alanis Morissette, who hasn't played Boston since 2012.
Foo Fighters fans have reason to rejoice. The Rock & Roll Hall of Famers are among the three headlining acts onFrontman Dave Grohl and his bandmatesfollowing drummer Taylor Hawkin's untimely death in Bogota, Colombia. As of publishing, the Foo Fighters' upcoming performance at Boston Calling will be the band's first showing at a major festival this year.
The now mammoth, rock-heavy fest's Saturday and Sunday evening headliners are The Lumineers and Paramore. They'll join more than 50 acts in Allston over Memorial Day weekend including Queens of the Stone Age, the always wacky-on-stage Flaming Lips, the art-punk trio Yeah Yeah Yeahs and Alanis Morissette, who hasn't played Boston since 2012.
Psych-rock band King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard is coming back to the fields after getting rained out in last year's flash thunder and lightning storm. The National, which collaborated on the creation of Boston Calling, will also be returning. Some of the many Boston Calling first-timers include Joy Oladorkun, The Linda Lindas, Actor Observer, 070 Shake and the femme queer punk band Sorry Mom.
Keeping in line with last year, 20 groups with local connections will also take Boston Calling's fourth stage, including
