Neale Richmond the minister of state with responsibility for retail business, has called for a meeting of the Retail Forum
Private retailers in the food sector “have to step up to the plate” when it comes to combatting grocery inflation, the retail minister has said.
Neale Richmond, a minister of state at the Department of Enterprise, Trade and Employment, has called for a meeting of the Retail Forum to discuss concerns over high food prices on Wednesday. It comes as high grocery bills continue to squeeze consumers’ wallets despite a slowdown in inflation. Last month, Malachy O’Connor, a partner at IPLC, a European grocery industry consulting firm, told the Business Post that it is unlikely that there will be a fall in food prices in the near future.
