DALLAS, Texas — Inflation in the United States has spiked 7.9% over the past year, ​and some small business owners are barely making it through without passing on an onslaught of high costs to their customers.

The self-described “BBQ King of North Texas” said both consumers and small businesses are in for a rude awakening if inflation hits the double digits. Prior to COVID-19, he charged around $8 for a BBQ sandwich — depending on the type — but now he’s having to charge $10 to $12.
