Galway midfielder Conroy has just been named PwC Footballer of the Year, an award that Dublin counterpart Fenton claimed twice during his illustrious career.

When asked who the most difficult player he had to mark was, he replied: “There’s a few. Brian Fenton has to be up there. In fairness, he’s class. He’s a Rolls Royce. Marked Michael Murphy a few times. Found him very tough. John Maher even in our own county.
