Founder Dr Sharon Alston promised punters a refund after the festival was cancelled last year

A group of disgruntled Forever Young music fans have been left out of pocket more than a year after organisers confirmed they would be issuing refunds for last year's cancelled event.

The friends spent almost €600 on four tickets to the '80s music-themed festival for them and their husbands for a day pass to Saturday’s event, including transport costs."You could only buy tickets through Forever Young. You couldn’t get them through Ticketmaster. I sent Denise my money and she got the four tickets.

"We sat in the pub and the next thing word started coming through - maybe around 12pm - that they won’t be letting anybody in because it is flooded. We contacted Dr Sharon Alston several times, but she has declined to respond to our request for an interview or a comment about why music fans have not received their refunds.

"We are waiting on a large rebate by the Revenue which would have paid the refunds by December - the refunds amount to nearly €300k.
