North Texas suburb ranks among most vegetarian friendly cities in U.S.
Brisket and beef enchiladas are simply too ingrained into our state’s food culture and history.
But a new study says one Dallas-Fort Worth suburb is among the most vegan and vegetarian friendly cities in the U.S. Personal finance website WalletHub ranked Plano No. 15 on a list of the largest 100 U.S. cities, one spot behind El Paso. Austin, perhaps not surprisingly, was the highest-ranking Texas city, at No. 5. Houston and San Antonio ranked 24 and 31, respectively.Tarrant County fell closer to the bottom, with Arlington at No. 78 and Fort Worth — which is after all nicknamed Cowtown — at No. 83., WalletHub analyzed the cost of groceries for vegetarians, share of restaurants serving meatless and vegan options, salad and smoothie shops per capita, and number of farmers markets, among other criteria.
