William Ryan, a 41-year-old married father-of-four, claimed what happened in the station in September 2020 was “fully consensual” but the jury did not believe him. At Ryan’s sentencing today, the woman told the court she felt such shame afterwards - even though she had done no wrong - but is now taking back her power.
At trial, she gave evidence of going to Aughrim Garda Station, where Ryan was stationed at the time, because she had an issue with the seizure of a car.She told the jury he locked her in and sexually assaulted her three times.
