BOOM Ohio State lands the top remaining player in the transfer portal as former Ole Miss cornerback Davison Igbinosun commits to the Buckeyes.
in the 2022 class, brings three years of eligibility to Ohio State after an impressive freshman season at Ole Miss in which he started 10 games, made 37 total tackles and five pass breakups and was named an honorable mention Freshman All-American by College Football News.
Igbinosun is now expected to compete with Jordan Hancock, Jyaire Brown and the rest of Ohio State’s cornerbacks to start opposite Denzel Burke in 2023. Regardless of who ends up winning that competition, Igbinosun’s addition provides a key boost to Ohio State’s cornerback depth, as the Buckeyes were set to have only six scholarship cornerbacks before his transfer.
Prior to his commitment, Igbinosun was the only remaining player in the top 20 of 247Sports’ 2023 transfer portal rankings who remained uncommitted. He was ranked by 247Sports as the fourth-best cornerback to enter the portal during the winter window behind Travis Hunter , Denver Harris and Fentrell Cypress .
He’s the second defensive back to transfer to Ohio State this offseason along with former Syracuse safety Ja’Had Carter. He’s the sixth overall transfer addition for the Buckeyes since December, joining former Oregon State quarterback Tristan Gebbia, Louisiana-Monroe offensive lineman Victor Cutler, Arizona State long snapper John Ferlmann and Kent State kicker Casey Magyar .
