He was driving at least 70 mph when he passed a stop sign and crashed into the home in the 2800 block of Comly Road, which is not far from the bar. The couple was watching tv on their couch when Campbell’s car slammed into the house, dragging and pinning the wife under the Dodge Dart. Her husband was sent “flying across the room,” the couple wrote in aThe wife suffered serious injuries to her legs, ribs, lungs and more, according to the report. She had to undergo several surgeries after the crash. The couple’s two dogs died from injuries they suffered in the crash, and their house was also significantly damaged.
Philadelphia District Attorney Larry Krasner said in a statement, “in one night of reckless and dangerous behavior, Gregory Campbell inflicted terrible injury,” the Inquirer reported.After the hearing, Campbell’s attorney told the Inquirer that Campbell had taken responsibility since the beginning and that his thoughts continue to be with the victims.
Campbell was fired by Commissioner Danielle Outlaw, the Inquirer reports. The couple’s civil lawsuit is still pending.
