He played in the top leagues in England and Ireland - and now Kevin Toner is dreaming of a career in La Liga.The Meathman put it up to Justin Kluivert and his Valencia teammates on Tuesday night in a Copa del Rey last-16 clash, with the top-flight side emerging victorious against Toner’s La Nucia.
“At 28 or 29, if you come in as a centre-back and you are physically mature and well able for it, I don’t see why a La Liga team wouldn’t throw you in there.” And while he gained European experience at Richmond Park, he left at the end of his contract and decided to pack it in altogether, at just 23 years of age.
La Nucia are in the hunt for the play-offs this season - and Tuesday night’s game has given Toner an appetite for more big-match action.
