In a court filing, her lawyers denied she was liable, arguing in part that she was shielded by legal doctrines known as professional and qualified immunity. Her lawyers also said Gutierrez did nothing that brought about the mass shooting. Gutierrez previously had disputed the findings of a special Texas House investigative committee report, released in July, that knocked the district for lapses in security at Robb, including a door lock that didn’t work, allowing the gunman to enter the school.
