A man in his 20s has been arrested as part of the investigation into an assault in Dublin city centre at the weekend.
A Canadian tourist aged in his 40s was injured in the incident, which occurred in the early hours of Sunday 23 June on Cathal Brugha Street and on O'Connell Street, remains in hospital.A man in his 30s, who was arrested on Monday, was later released without charge and a file is being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.
Another man, Madalin Ghiuzan, 23, with an address at Summerhill Parade, Dublin 1, appeared in court on Monday accused of two counts of assault causing harm to the tourist. Gardaí have appealed to any witnesses, particularly anyone who was in the Cathal Brugha Street area, near the Living Room Bar, between 12.40am and 1am, or anyone who was on O'Connell Street Upper near the Spar, Funland or Tourism Office, opposite the Spire, at the same time to contact Store Street Garda Station on 01 666 8000, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any garda station.
